Supporting five star hospitality requires dependable communication across every area of a busy hotel. Located within the Grade I listed former Midland Bank headquarters in the heart of the City of London, The Ned is one of the capital’s most recognisable luxury hotels.
With more than 250 bedrooms, multiple restaurants and bars, a private members’ club, spa, gym and rooftop facilities, teams work across a large and complex property. Reliable communication helps staff coordinate activity and maintain the high level of service guests expect.
The Challenge
Delivering five star service relies on teams being able to respond quickly, whether assisting a guest, dealing with a maintenance request or managing a security incident.
The scale and historic construction of The Ned presented additional challenges for radio coverage. Staff need to remain connected across multiple floors and operational areas, including parts of the Grade I listed building where maintaining a consistent radio signal can be more difficult.
The hotel therefore needed a dependable radio system capable of providing coverage throughout the property while supporting multiple departments and the demands of a busy hospitality environment.
The Solution
MTech has continued to develop The Ned’s radio communication system as the hotel’s operational requirements have changed.
Teams now use a combination of Motorola SL2600 and Motorola R7a two way radios, allowing different departments to use equipment suited to their working environment.
The slim and discreet Motorola SL2600 is particularly suited to customer facing teams, while the Motorola R7a provides a robust option with strong audio performance for employees working in busier and more demanding areas of the hotel.
The radios operate across a Motorola MOTOTRBO Linked Capacity Plus system, creating a scalable communication network designed to provide reliable coverage throughout the property while accommodating multiple teams and talkgroups.
This allows departments including security, maintenance, front of house and concierge to communicate effectively while keeping everyday radio traffic organised between teams.
The Outcome
The system provides The Ned with a reliable communication platform that supports both guest service and the day to day operation of the hotel.
Staff can quickly contact the right colleagues wherever they are working, helping teams respond to guest requests, coordinate operational activity and manage urgent situations more effectively.
As the hotel’s requirements continue to develop, MTech provides ongoing support and system updates, giving The Ned a long term communication system that can continue to evolve alongside its operations.
